After two months at home, I received a call to serve on a Ro-Ro ship with Captain Graybeard. I accepted the offer, and the company arranged my transport to the ship. It was a medium-sized vessel, somewhat old but still serviceable. Once on board, I made my way to the Captain’s Office. There sat Captain Graybeard, at his desk, dressed in formal Captain’s attire.
When Captain Graybeard saw me, he smiled and said, “Jack, welcome on board. Good to see you. How is your father doing?”
